Best christmas markets in Munich

You’re probably wondering now: Which are the best Christmas markets in Munich?

The question is not so easy to answer, as there is an incredible variety of Christmas markets in Munich. We usually prefer places that are not so crowded. However, this is a criterion that somehow doesn’t apply to Christmas markets, as they are generally well attended.

If you are looking for a very traditional Christmas market and have never been to Munich before, then the Christkindlmarkt directly on Marienplatz is probably the best choice. Otherwise, we recommend the medieval market nearby, as it is a little quieter and is sure to offer a unique atmosphere this year.

Do you like it more colorful? Then check out one of the many alternative markets such as Pink Christmas, Tollwood Winter Festival or Bahnwärter Thiel.

And if you’re looking for something cozy, then you should visit the small Christmas markets at Café Gans am Wasser and Gans Woanders, which are also worth a visit in summer.
